About The Judith Hockaday School of Dance and Drama
Our philosophy
- We encourage our pupils to develop their personal presentation and performance skills through a range of dance genre, choreography, musical theatre and drama.
- Although optional, we feel that working for an examination is both a positive and confidence-building achievement and pupils are given opportunity to study for the examinations of The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) as well as examinations of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA).
- Whether dancing with a future career in mind or just dancing for pleasure, we aim to create a supportive yet challenging learning environment for our pupils developing the techniques necessary to enhance their dance abilities in a safe, caring environment with skilled and experienced teachers.
Our school's main strengths lie in:
- Encouraging and nurturing the artistic skills of our pupils in a fun, challenging and supportive environment.
- Offering extracurricular activities in addition to classes with provision of exciting summer holiday courses and ‘dance days’.
- Offering pupils opportunities to perform with regular viewing days for parents, concerts and shows.
- A skilled and experienced staff highly qualified in their own specialised field.
- Taking part in charity events in the local area.
UNIFORM
Our uniform shop ‘The Dancing Duck’ is situated on site at the Prospect Court Studios and open on Saturday mornings for all your dance uniform needs. Alternatively parents and pupils are able to pre order goods via email or class teachers, and requested items are delivered to you at your next class. This is a particularly helpful service for pupils of our Branch Schools who may not be able to visit the shop.
